World War II Lumber Jill Tea Cosy
I've been inspired to design a tea cosy that celebrates the incredible contributions of the Lumber Jills during World War II in the UK.

These remarkable women stepped into the roles of Lumber Jacks, taking on vital forestry work when the young men were conscripted to war. The Lumber Jills were a part of the Women’s Timber Corps (WTC), and this tea cosy will honour their strength, skill, and unwavering determination.
The design will feature a Lumber Jill wearing tan trousers, a green jumper, and a dark green beret; classic attire of the WTC. Picture her holding a crosscut saw, the iconic two-person saw used to fell trees, as a nod to their vital work in forestry.
In old photographs of the Lumber Jills, their glamorous, flowing hair often stands out, even beneath their berets. I want to capture that sense of elegance and individuality, so my Lumber Jill will sport cascading locks peeking out from under her beret; fabulous and full of character.
This is a fast-track project with VE Day just around the corner. To save time, I’m diving straight into the design phase without a sketch or video. It's all about channelling the spirit of these trailblazing women into a creative, heartfelt tribute.
