I've loved knitting London icons and now it's the turn of Tower Bridge.
I think that Tower Bridge is one of my favourites, I just love the towers, they remind me of Trumptonshire clock. I do love architecture when it looks over done and gothic. As landmarks go, it is pretty impressive from the bank, from the water or from the air.
Well the easy part of the tea cosy will be the base with the river Thames, the waterline and the sky. If you look at the water quality of the Thames, I don't think its a pretty colour as you'd like to imagine, so I am using artistic licence and I thought I'd go for Stylecraft Special Petrol. It's a dark, bluey green shade and I shall use Cloud Blue above which will lift it.
The bridge towers will be where the fun begins. I could have put the structure on the top and made life easy with two straightforward columns, but it would either have to have been small, or structurally it would have been more like the song about London Bridge. With my design, the main tea cosy supports most of the towers.
There is another issue higher up between the towers that may also need some structural support so it doesn't end up looking like a limp noodle.
I'm really looking forward to knitting this tea cosy, and it's so recognisable - I hope I can do it justice.
