I've always loved elephants, so I'm excited to design a tea cosy that looks like a elephant that is dressed up for a celebration.
This is going to be a mammoth task, well not mammoth, but elephant! The main part of the cosy will be the elephant's body, and then the head, legs and decoration will be knitted and added.
There is an Elephant Festival held every year in Jaipur, India. How amazing must it be to see a procession of beautifully decorated elephants all together? What a special treat it must be. Apparently the best dressed elephant wins a prize. So, that throws down a gauntlet for me. I need to create a decorated elephant that is worthy of a prize in the Elephant Festival.
Just a note of interest, I'm only decorating a tea cosy-sized elephant, imagine how much fabric, materials, trims and decoration go in to decorating a fully grown Asian elephant. Mind boggling.
When you think of an elephant I think most people think that they are grey, but actually they can be grey through to brown. But I shall use grey because then the other colours set against a grey background will pop.
I don't think that there will be any issues with knitting this tea cosy. I can't see any issues or tricky bits. But I might need my sun glasses when all these colourful yarns come out!
