Sledging is so much fun. It's lovely to be out, wrapped up warm, flying down a hill on a sledge. And people pull such funny faces!
With winter well on it's way, I thought a sledge tea coy would be lovely, to remind us that snow can be fun as well as an inconvenience.
There are so many Christmas songs about snow, that snow, snowing and frostiness seems to be an intregal part of Christmas expectations, however for a lot of people, I think snow is more of a feature of winter, than of Christmas.
Children always love the snow and playing in it, so I thought this tea cosy should depict a child. The tea cosy has a child on it's sledge on all fours, with a big bottom in the air. I love old fashioned, so I have given the tea cosy a traditional wooden sled, rather than one of those moulded plastic affairs. I think when people think of a sledge that a wooden one is image that comes to mind. It might be because of nostalgia, but I suppose Christmas cards and decorations tend to favour the traditional style of sledge, they have a rustic charm.
The child is wearing trousers, wellington boots, a big red coat, mittens and a woolly hat; all the things you'd expect to wear for an afternoon of sledding.
I haven't drawn the spout of handle, because they will be sticking gout at the side of the cosy, facing the camera. The rails of the sledge will go under the spout and handle openings.
I can't see any issues with this this tea cosy. I think it shall be fun and straight forward.
