Golfer Tea Cosy
I'm teeing off with a new tea cosy design of a golfer. This is something that I know nothing about, so I have been studying lots of images to help me get the design right.
A golfer tea cosy design was a request from a member of the Facebook group. I thought it might be an interesting tea cosy to make.
I suppose its a very old fashioned view now, but I always think of golfers with a 'golfers dress code'. The obligatory bright colours, short trousers, big cap and an argyle tank top; which is basically what I have sketched out. I do think it will be great fun to use bright colours, it does make a tea cosy very cheery.
I shall give my golfer a club and a ball, it would be nice to give him a golf bag around the back. I love the funny sock things you see people put on their clubs to protect them.
I think the hardest part will the the Argyle pattern. I thought I'd do based on Argyle rather than being accurate to the Argyle design. I shall work the pattern into the knitting the intarsia way I think. Doing this is always difficult at the top when you need to decrease and keep the pattern going.
I also think I shall have to use some old bamboo knitting needles for the handles of the golf clubs, so be forewarned - if you see any going cheap in the charity shops to pick some up.
I'm looking forward to knitting this fella, and it will be another nice sporty tea cosy for the collection.
