This is the story of Alice in Chocolate Orange Land - Curiouser and curiouser!
I have been listening to a reading of Alice in Wonderland on Youtube whilst I have been knitting and it’s inspired me to create chocolate orange cosies of some of the characters. Well, actually, I’d like to make most of the characters from the story, but I have limited myself. Plus, from the story and the descriptions, I think the cosies will end up being very detailed with lots of elements to each one.
For now, I have chosen four that I would like to work on first and maybe do another four afterwards. So, I have sketched out Alice, the caterpillar, the White Rabbit and the Dodo. I read somewhere that the dodo represents Lewis Carroll in the book, so I thought it important to include him. There isn’t much of a description for the dodo, but I thought it would be fun to give him a monocle and a swagger stick.
I wanted Alice to look bigger than everyone else, as though she was giant and oversized, so I have her sitting down with her legs stretched out in front.
Everyone loved the White Rabbit in his little waistcoat. I have given him spectacles and an oversized pocket watch.
And finally (for now at least) the blue caterpillar, sitting on a mushroom, smoking his hookah.
I’m looking forward to knitting these little cosies. It’s lovely to knit cute things and I was thinking that Alice in Wonderland is a favourite during panto season. So I thought they would be fun for Christmas gifts.
