I have been thinking about Easter and the manufacturing of all those Easter eggs, and I have come up with a tea cosy that I think explains how the Easter egg factories must look and work.
The Easter egg factory is going to be a lovely tea cosy of the inside of an Easter egg factory and what it might look like.
On the top there will be the chicken that lays chocolate Easter eggs. She's looking a bit crazy and boss-eyed because she has ramped up production and is laying more chocolate eggs then usual to meet the supermarkets' demands. She lays her eggs into a hopper, and they come down a tube to a conveyer belt.
Once on the conveyer belt they will go through a series of processes to become beautiful Easter eggs.
Finally at the end of the process, they will fall into a wicker-style basket, ready for the Easter bunny to take away and hide for the children.
Now, just to be clear, I have never been invited into a Easter egg factory, so some aspects of my design might be wrong, but I'm sure this is how they do it.
I'm loving the steampunk look to this tea cosy and I think it probably needs more pipes, buttons and lights, but I thought I could add more as I'm working on it. I particularly like the robotic looking arm. I thought we would need a solution to get the eggs from one side of the tea cosy, over the spout of handle opening to the conveyer belt on the other side.
I don't see any issues with the build of this cosy, other than it looks like there are a lot of parts and lots to sew up. When you love to knit you have to learn to love to sew up too.
I have been thinking that I will need to knit lots of eggs at various stages and to decorate them, I think bows would look lovely. But knitting bows that small I think will look too bulky, so I am thinking maybe pre-made satin bows. But I shall see how it goes. I think when we think of Easter eggs we think of an egg wearing a bow, but in reality that is rarely the case. I shall make a decision on this as the project develops.
