Gamer Tea Cosy

Everyone knows a gamer and this tea cosy design is dedicated to gamers who spend more time with their games consoles than anything else (if they can get away with it).

I was asked if I would design a Gamer tea cosy and to be honest, it is a bit out of my comfort zone, not being a gamer myself. I wouldn't call myself a technophobe, but I'm not very tech savvy and I'm not into gaming, so it did take me a while to get my thoughts together as to what the tea cosy design might look like.

I remember the first games that came out, games like space invaders and the brick wall. With these old retro games in mind, I designed a space invaders t-shirt for my tea cosy character to wear.

I remember as my son was growing up, he was heavily into gaming and he's forget to brush his hair because he was too busy gaming, so I have given the character a messy hair style.

So you know he's gaming, he is holding a controller in his hands and he is wearing headphones. My impression of gamers is that they get hypnotised by the game they are playing, so I have given him spiralling eyes to represent this hypnotic state that he's in.

Just for fun, I thought it would add to the composition if I gave him legs. It makes him look as if he is sitting on the floor in front of the screen playing away.

As I said, gaming isn't an area that I have much experience in, but I'm quite happy with my sketch and I'm looking forward to knitting the tea cosy. Game on!
