It's time for a celebratory tea cosy and we all look forward to the coronation of King Charles III.
This will probably be the only opportunity I have to design a coronation tea cosy, so I wanted to make sure it was impressive, and I wanted to include the legendry King Edward's Chair, that is used as the coronation throne. Actually it looks quite a humble throne, made of wood not gold and precious stones. What is quite magical about this throne is that it has been used since the middle ages to crown monarchs. Just think of all those Royal derrieres that have graced that chair, and now it's King Charles's turn.
Beneath King Edward's Chair, is the Stone or Scone or the Stone of Destiny. On the sketch you can see dark grey through the throne, this is the stone which is an important part of the coronation ceremony.
I have Charles wearing the uniform of an admiral of the fleet and St Edward's Crown.
There is a lot of detail in this cosy and I think it's going to be a mammoth task, so it's good that I'm starting early. I think the most difficult part of this cosy is the throne, I mean, a teapot isn't really the right shape is it? Somehow I have to make a round ball look cube-like and throne-like. After that it will be a breeze... well it would be nice if it was, but I think it's going to be lots of bits to make Charles look like my drawing.
