Miniature Schnauzer Tea Cosy

I have had a request for a Miniature Schnauzer tea cosy. These dogs are so cute and hairy, what a cute design this is going to be.

What I love about these dogs are their eyebrows. Their faces look like little old men with their big fluffy eyebrows and their long beards.

They look to be quite a stout dog with chunky legs and quite woolly. So I have drawn my sketch with woolly bits that I think I shall knit in loopy stitch.

Instead of the 'sit' position, I thought I'd have him running along, or maybe he is giving a paw? I though it would add interest.

I have bought some lovely Stylecraft Special DK Warm Grey to knit him in and I shall give him a sandy coloured beard and eyebrows. Because he's in a stood position I have stood him on grass, so the lower part of the tea cosy will be green.

I think the hardest part of this tea cosy will be the balance of the loops; if there's too many, he will be in danger of looking like a sheep. Also about the face I don't want to use loops because I think loops suggest curls, and Miniature Schnauzer facial hair isn't curly, its long and straightish. I will have to have a think about how I shall achieve this.

I am looking forward to making the Miniature Schnauzer tea cosy, it's always lovely to make animals because they are cute.
