Getting Safety Eyes Through Knitting

Sometimes with the larger animal safety eyes, it can be difficult getting the chunky stalk of the eye through the knitting. The stitches just seem to be a bit too small.

A quick tip is to use a knitting needle to clear the way. Push the knitting needle in where you want the eye stalk to go and then wiggle it about a bit to open up the stitches and to move any obstacle out of the way.

When you take the knitting needle out the eye should go in a lot easier. If it doesn't repeat with more vigorous wiggling.
