Lighthouse Tea Cosy and Knitting Pattern

The Lighthouse tea cosy was designed for the Simply Knitting Magazine issue 229 which went on sale on the 9th September 2022.

I love lighthouses, they are always somewhere isolated and windswept and surrounded by nature. It's my love of lighthouses that inspired me to create a lighthouse tea cosy.

The main part of the tea cosy is the base of the lighthouse and the tower of the lighthouse is knitted separately and added on.

Originally, lighthouses were lived in and were peoples homes as well as nautical life savers, so I made the lighthouse look homely with doors and windows and a little porch.

At the top of the tower is the light that has a lattice metal frame around the glass to brace it from the storms and gales. Through the lattice work you can see the yellow glow from the light.

It's a lovely tea cosy for people who like me, love lighthouses, but it has a wider appeal to people who live near or on the sea.

Wonderfully nautical tea cosy of a lighthouse for people who crave hot tea by the sea.

• fits a medium sized teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups or 2 pints
