Elephant Tea Cosy Knitting Pattern

Description

The elephant tea cosy was inspired by Jaipur's Elephant Festival and the beautifully decorated elephants. The decorations look so bright and colourful and I love the way the colours pop, and I love that more is more when they decorate the festival elephants.

I wanted to create an explosion of colourful decorations for my elephant tea cosy design.

The main part of the tea cosy is the elephant and head and legs are knitted separately and sewn on. There are black safety eyes on the head that are then given knitted eyelashes that look really cute. Elephants have big everything and they have beautiful long eyelashes and I wanted to capture that.

For decoration the elephant has anklets around its legs, a head dress, a collar and a blanket on its back. The decorations are knitted in bright colours and edges with Stylecraft Special DK Sunshine.

It's a lovely tea cosy and being bright and cheerful, it's perfect for brightening up the dullest of autumn days.
