Buoy Tea Cosy and Knitting Pattern

Description

Inspired by a holiday near a harbour, I saw a buoy out at sea and I thought how nautical it was and how wonderfully simple and yet life saving. I thought it would make a fantastic sea faring tea cosy.

The main mart of the tea cosy is the buoy itself. It's bright red so it can easily be seen from a great distance. A handy thing for a tea cosy I think, I always want to know when the teapot has been refreshed.

It's a simply buoy with 'handle' like things on the four sides. I want to make it look as if it were in the sea, bobbing about. So at the bottom of the cosy there is the hint of sea waves.

Having looked at lots of photos to research buoys, I noticed that very often it seems that seagulls use buoys as a perch. Maybe they are having a rest, or maybe they like rhythmic movements. So, there is a friendly seagull sat on the top of the buoy. I think he looks perfect on the top of the cosy and the sea bird adds to the nautical theme of this tea cosy.

It's a fabulous tea cosy for people who live near the sea and who hear the cries of the seagulls.
