Steam Locomotive Tea Cosy Knitting Pattern

I had wanted to design a Steam Locomotive tea cosy for a while. We visit lots of the steam railway museums on our travels and we love the romance and nostalgia of the steam engines and I wanted to capture all that in a vintage train tea cosy.

With the roundness of a teapot dictating the main shape of the steam train, I was never going to be able to design something elegant like the Flying Scotsman tea cosy. I have created a rather more stubby, chunky looking vintage train.

The steam locomotive is a green engine with a water tank on either side. The train has a chimney funnel and a steam dome, and a small cab. The cab is a pocket, and there is a pattern to knit the Loco Driver in a denim boiler suit. Of course, the train driver could look like someone you know, and you could also knit him a companion to shovel the coal.

The little steam engine has buffers at the front and rear and four wheels and coupling rods. It's a really cute tea cosy that i'm rather 'chuffed' with.
