Description

Before Christmas I was asked to create a bespoke tea cosy for someone to give to her parents at Christmas. I have left it till now to add to the website as so not to spoil the surprise.

The brief was that Mum and Dad were arty and liked to design their own Christmas cards each year with caricatures of themselves doing festive things on them. I was given photos of the cards to work from; one year they were dressed as Santa and another year as reindeers.

I had the idea that I could make the caricatures as one from each card so that I would have a Santa and a Reindeer and I had the brainwave that these little folk should be picking up and making off with a cannonball style Christmas pudding.

I do think it's fun and rather a lovely idea to make your own Christmas cards with you on them! And what a lovely idea of the daughters to have them turned into a tea cosy to enjoy for years to come.

Since Christmas day, I have had an email from the daughter who said that the tea cosy was a huge success, and was enjoyed by her parents.

The knitting pattern for this particular tea cosy isn't available with a Santa and reindeer, but I did convert the pattern a little to become the Elves and Christmas Pudding Tea Cosy

The festive Christmas Pudding thieves!

This Tea Cosy:

  • is made from double thickness yarn for extra insulation
  • fits a medium sized teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups or 2 pints
