The Nordic Christmas Gnome has popped over from Scandinavia and now he's a firm favourite at Christmas time. Folklore associates Christmas gnomes with the winter solstice, so it's no wonder that they are always wearing big hats and mittens.

The Christmas Gnome tea cosy is a typical Nordic gnome in a big red hat and mittens, and he's also wearing a boots fit for trudging about in the snow.

The hat has a lovely Fair Isle design on it of snowflakes, giving a wintery feel. Higher up the hat is a star which is knitted and applique on afterwards.

You can't see much of the Gnomes body because of his enormous white beard. The beard is knitted with white and silver tinsel yarn so it looks frosty and festive.

In the gnomes had he is holding a star. I don't know what he's going to do with the star, maybe it's part of his Christmas magic?
