Galapagos Giant Tortoise Tea Cosy Knitting Pattern

Description

Inspired by our slow-plodding reptilian friends, I designed a Galapagos Giant Tortoise tea cosy. I thought the giant tortoise was most suited to the shape of a teapot because of their shell proportions and the length of their legs when they are stood, a smaller tortoise is much flatter.

The giant tortoise looks so cute, he's obviously on a walk about and he is stood on his legs and his head is up and out looking to see where he is going.

His shell is all knobbly, this is achieved with short rows, but only a few, and stuffing and stitching to make little pockets where the bumps need to be.

It's such a lovely tea cosy and a fun pattern to knit. With Galapagos giant tortoises being endangered, it's a nice tribute to highlight the plight of this beautiful creature.

A Galapagos Giant Tortoise can live for a year without food or water. But thanks to the tortoise tea cosy we don't have to manage a single day without hot tea.
